Gilford Boys Win NH Division III Cross-Country State Championships
Great Glen Trails – Feb. 12, 2015 – Gunstock Nordic Association – A week after the Waterville Valley victory, the Gilford Boys Nordic ski team kept their momentum going with a dominating team win at the NH Division III Cross-Country State Championships at Great Glen Trails. Every team member placed in the top ten of the 4k classic race. The Young and Valpey brothers swept the top 4 spots, and Ryan LaFrance had another strong performance with a 7th-place finish.
After a short rest, the team headed out for the afternoon 4k skate race, which would determine the state champion. Once again, Matt Young dominated the race by taking first place with a blistering time of 10:45. Mark Young battled a strong Kearsarge skier and took third, while Sander and Seth Valpey skied to fourth and sixth place, and Ryan LaFrance took twelfth. Incredible results for all of the GNA racers!

In the girls’ race, GNA skier Sophie Czerwinski led the high school girls team by finishing seventh overall in the classical race (16:24) and 10th in the skate (14:28) notching a pair of top 10 finishes.
