GNA Skiers Propel Gilford High School to Victory at NHNCA Coaches Series Race
Waterville Valley – Feb. 5, 2015 – Gunstock Nordic Association – Amongst strong winds and frigid temperatures, the Gilford Boys Nordic ski team edged out rival Kennett High School at the second NHNCA Coaches Series Race at Waterville Valley. Gilford senior and GNA standout Matt Young took the top spot in the individual 5k classic race with a time of 14:03. Matt’s younger brother Mark followed in third with a time of 14:58. Also scoring critical points—and helping to seal the team victory—were Seth Valpey (9th place, 15:29) and Sander Valpey (12th, 15:41). Ryan LaFrance rounded out the Gilford skiers by finishing just outside of the top third of the field with a solid time of 17:33.
