Gilford, NH – February 4, 2017 – Gunstock Nordic Association – Gunstock Resort and GNA was host to over 700 high school and middle school skiers from all over Hew Hampshire. This was the first of a two-race series (one classic and one skate technique), which will determine which high school boys and girls will be selected to race for Team NH. Selected skiers will go on to compete in the New England Nordic Ski Association’s U16 and Eastern High School Championships in March.

Gunstock Resort set up a beautiful and challenging classic ski course for the event. The course included the difficult Cobble climb, a very fast and twisting descent to the Powerline trail, followed by rolling terrain. To do well on this course, skiers had to possess top fitness and solid downhill technical skills. The undulating features of the course proved to be an asset for GNA skiers who quickly set the times to beat in each race category.

GNA skiers posted the following results:

5 km High School Girl’s Classic
1st Mary Kretchmer
8th Alex Paluszek

5 km High School Boy’s Classic
