Stowe, VT – March 7, 2014 – Gunstock Nordic Association – At the resort made famous by the von Trapp family, hundreds of skiers from around the the United States and Europe lined up for the the mass start distance races at the 2014 USSA Cross Country Junior National Championships. In the Men’s Under 20 Division (15 km), GNA’s Jack Schrupp, who's only 18, skied the race of a lifetime by placing 2d to Czech skier Fabian Stocek. On the final climb of 3 very fast laps, Schrupp made his surge out of the lead group group into the finish area just 7.5 seconds behind Stocek for a finishing time 38:47.

As the top American finisher, Jack earned his first USSA National title along with receiving “All American” honors.

Jack also posted solid results in both the 10 km Individual Classic on Monday, the 1.4 km Sprint on Wednesday, and the final 3 x 3 km skate relay. In the classic event Jack placed 9th, with a time of 28:57. In the 1.4 km Sprint, he advanced in each heat proceeding to the A-group finals and finishing 4th. In the relay, Jack teamed with two University of Vermont skiers, Jack Hegman and Cole Morgan, to win the event.
