Rumford, ME – March. 13, 2016 – Gunstock Nordic Association – Warm spring-like temperatures and challenging snow conditions didn't slow down Josh Valentine, who raced his best performance of the season by winning the NENSA U16 Championships. Josh helped propel the New Hampshire team to its first team victory in several years!

This annual end-of-the-season race is essentially an all-star event of the top U16 skiers from MA, ME, NH, and VT. On Friday and Saturday, the skiers raced the 5km Classic and Freestyle races. Sunday’s finale featured Classic and Freestyle Sprints which determined the overall individual and team champions.

Josh quickly became the skier to beat by winning Friday's 5km Individual Freestyle race by 16 seconds. Saturday’s Classic race also had Josh taking the top spot by another 16 seconds. On Sunday, Josh held strong with a 3rd place finish in the Classic Sprint and he fought it out for 3rd in the afternoon’s Freestyle Sprint—earning him the overall individual title for 2016.

Other notable GNA finishers include Cal Schrupp: 19th 5km Freestyle, 25th 5km Classic, 44th Freestyle Sprint, and 17th in the Classic Sprint. And Alexandra Paluszek: 30th 5km Freestyle, 39th 5km Classic, 57th Freestyle Sprint, and 31st in the Classic Sprint.
